World Aging Data ExplorerThe World Aging Data Explorer (WADE) is a powerful tool for presenting and evaluating indicators of population aging. The tool produces: (1) conventional indicators, where the threshold of old age (often age 65) is considered fixed in time and space, and (2) new indicators, where the threshold of old age is determined dynamically based on life expectancy. All indicators are based on data from the UN’s World Population Prospects 2022 and 2024. They cover the period 1950 to 2100 and are disaggregated by region, subregion, and country. Both types of indicators can also be produced with user-defined data. An expanded discussion of the comparison of the two types of indicators and the methodology of the new indicators can be found in the book "Prospective Longevity: A New Vision of Population Aging". This book can be also accessed using WADE. |
